The Book Shop Is Closed (Returning Sometime in 2022)

Thank you to everyone who bought books from us, especially the institute that acquired a substantial number for a substantial total price.

As we are departing for Malawi next week, the “book shop” is now closed. We had 195 books to sell, and have sold 131, which is so encouraging. The remainder which will still be listed through the main sale page here will be available for purchase when we return to the UK for home assignment sometime in late 2022. If you are interested and can wait that long of course.

Acoustic Guitar For Sale

As our departure for Malawi is imminent, we only have a few things left to sell. One of these is my fantastic Freshman FA350GA electro-acoustic guitar. It is a ‘grand auditorium’ style guitar, which sounds amazing both plugged and unplugged. The electronics are Fishman, as can be seen in the pictures.

It’s in great condition, with just a few wee nicks from the huge amount of use it has had in the last 9.5 years (mainly in church on Sunday mornings). The hard case is showing many signs of wear on the outside, but nothing wrong with it on the inside.

I’m looking for £350 for a guitar that cost nearly £600 new. Due to you-know-what, it would be better if someone in Edinburgh was the buyer, but I’m happy to listen to suggestions for how we could do this if you don’t.

Please get in touch if you’re interested, either by email (if you have it) or by leaving a comment.

Bulk Book Prices

The sale of books is going really well and there is now only 81 left, out of a total of 195 originally. We are now willing to consider disposing of the remainder in bulk sales for further discounted prices.

As an indication, the following prices would apply to anyone buying all the books in each category – click on the links to see what is currently available:

Biblical Studies: £125

Commentaries: £225

Comparative Religions: £20

Practical and Personal: £90

Theology and Hermeneutics: £180

Alternatively, a price of £600 for all of them would be acceptable.

All prices include delivery to a UK mainland address.

Please see the original post for details of how the books are described and categorised.

Books for Sale!

UPDATE: If you haven’t read this post, then please read it before continuing to read this one!

We have a number of theology and ministry books for sale. The proceeds will help fund our set-up costs in Malawi, including language learning and the vehicle we will need for ministry. It has been a hard job deciding which books to keep, which to take with us to Malawi, and which to sell. The majority of these books were accumulated during my studies at ICC and LST, so will hopefully appeal to those in ministry and/or currently studying.

We will beat the Amazon UK cost (i.e. including postage) for a copy in the equivalent condition and you will have the satisfaction of supporting mission work in Malawi. Because Amazon prices fluctuate, you might spot one of our prices is above the Amazon cost – let us know and we will beat it!

If you are interested in buying any books, please contact me directly by email. If you don’t have my email address, please leave a comment and I will figure out how to get back to you! The listings will be updated as and when a book is sold. They are also available for sale elsewhere, so please act quickly if there is something you are interested in.

There are seven categories of books available. Please click on the title to access the separate post that lists them (otherwise this post would be massive!).

(1) Biblical Studies

(2) Church History (ALL NOW SOLD)

(3) Commentaries

(4) Comparative Religions

Prices quoted are inclusive of delivery to mainland UK and there may be further discounts available for substantial bulk purchases. For delivery elsewhere, please ask! In brackets after each price is the cost of the equivalent condition copy on Amazon, also including delivery, at the time of listing. Discounts on the Amazon prices average around 15%.The format of the listings is as follows:

Condition per Amazon UK guidelines
Price incl. delivery (Equivalent Amazon price incl. delivery)

The Amazon selling guidelines for used books are as follows:

Like New: an apparently unread copy in perfect condition. Dust cover is intact with no nicks or tears. Spine has no signs of creasing. Pages are clean and not marred by notes or folds of any kind. Books may contain a remainder mark on an outside edge, but this should be noted in the listing comments.

Very Good: a copy that has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Good: a copy that has been read but remains in clean condition. All pages are intact and the cover is intact (including the dust cover, if applicable). The spine may show signs of wear. Pages can include limited notes and highlighting, and the copy can include “From the library of” labels.

Acceptable: a readable copy. All pages and the cover are intact (the dust cover may be missing). Pages can include considerable notes–in pen or highlighter–but notes cannot obscure the text.

Please note that a number of the books for sale were bought for academic purposes and, therefore, I/we do not necessarily endorse the views of all the authors.
