My name is Matthew, and I have been restored. I love Jesus and He loves me.
This blog has been host to a number of ramblings over the last few years. It was started in 2007, when the world was gradually falling to bits due to the Credit Crunch. Since then, quite a lot has happened. I fell ill with depression at the end of 2009, not least because of the stress caused by said financial downturn in my job. But 2010 ended very well, when I got married to an amazing woman called Karen.
At the end of 2011, I took voluntary redundancy from the large, high-street bank that I had been with for 11 years. In this time, I experienced one merger and one takeover, coming at both from probably the wrong side. My experience of this era was very up and down and there was always a feeling that I was called to something more, something different. On at least 2 occasions, I was close to simply walking away from my career to pursue other dreams – one of which was to train as a pilot and serve with MAF! – but didn’t for various reasons.
However, the opportunity presented itself to leave last year and this was an awesome piece of Godly timing, as Karen and I had just been challenged about serving God overseas. So, during 2012, I hope to start a Theology degree course, which will take 2 or 3 years, then who knows (well, HE knows) where we will end up. We are very open to whatever the Lord has for us and very excited by the possibilities.
In the meantime, I have the opportunity to do a lot of thinking and writing. Hopefully, this will end up on this blog but, given that the last entry was around the time of the 2010 General Election, I wouldn’t hold my breath if I was you.
That’s it! Sawasawa mzee!
